What is Self Awareness / Wind Down? Why is the screen black?
Self Awareness is a quick reflection to help you reset and refocus. Wind Down is a Self Awareness exercise, which is a brief wellbeing check-in.
Self Awareness: Wind Down with L.E.
Self Awareness: Wind Down is a brief wellbeing check-in with L.E. It is designed to help you pause to process your thoughts and feelings, whether that's working through stress and overwhelm or celebrating insights and wins.
Through reflection and curious questions, it guides you to notice your mental state, create healthy distance from unhelpful patterns, and reconnect with what matters most to you.
Why is the screen black?
At times, your screen may turn black as part of the Wind Down feature, a private space for you and L.E. to check in on your mental health and wellbeing. Your responses are private and always de-identified to protect your privacy and safety.
These moments are important because they help you pause, reflect, and give L.E. the context needed to better support your overall wellbeing.
A reminder: Matter and Space is a learning tool, not an emergency, crisis-response, or reporting service. Conversations are not monitored in real time. If you need immediate help, call 911, go to the nearest emergency room, or call or text 988. SNHU employees can also contact the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) 24/7 at 800-647-9151 (dial #1).
Messages suggesting a risk of harm to yourself or others automatically receive these resources in-app. A small group of designated reviewers generally reviews flagged messages during normal business operations. They see only the flagged message and a few surrounding messages, without your name or profile, and pass along only concerns that appear credible.
Conversations are de-identified. If a reviewed message reasonably suggests a serious or imminent risk of harm, SNHU HR may be notified to determine next steps. In exceptional circumstances, HR may authorize limited re-identification — name and email only — to contact the person or involve emergency services. SNHU HR, not MAS reviewers, makes these decisions, and any such action is documented.
