What is the Human Development curriculum?

The Human Development program builds the everyday skills that support how you work and feel — communicating well, managing your attention and stress, and keeping your body moving. It runs across our introductory Foundations for Flourishing curriculum, followed by your choice of three electives, each 8 weeks long.

What will I learn?

For a detailed overview of the October pilot human development / wellbeing curriculum, please see the "What to Expect" resource.

  • Foundations for Flourishing. Explore ideas around how your mental, physical and emotional well-being play into your learning and life while making connections between these ideas and what you are doing in app.
  • Communication. Start with purpose, tone, and audience, then move through message structure, listening, and giving and receiving feedback. Later units cover preventing miscommunication, choosing the right medium, and setting your own standards. The program closes on presence and empathy — keeping a conversation alive and repairing one that’s gone wrong.
  • Mindfulness. Begin with the basics of practice and awareness, then work through thought patterns, emotions, gratitude, and self-compassion. Later units apply mindfulness to communication, values, technology, decisions, and work. The final units cover stress and how to carry the practice beyond the course.
  • Exercise. Rethink what counts as movement, starting with short regular activity and sitting less. Then cover strength and cardio basics, energy, mood, recovery and sleep, and fuel and hydration. The last units build movement into a habit and show why short vigorous bursts beat chasing step counts.

How is each elective structured?

Every elective is 8 weeks long, with 3–4 topics each. Each topic pairs a short lesson with a hands-on practice — a guided exercise, a written reflection, or a conversation with your AI coach. When you choose an elective, you’ll also set a target goal for your elective - practice frequency or strategy implementation. On a regular cadence, a coach will check in with you on your goal to help you achieve progress that is meaningful to you.

What tools will I use?

Everything runs on-platform. Lessons are short videos or written explainers, and practice uses guided audio and video, journaling prompts, and AI coaches — including roleplay scenarios in Communication where you practice a live conversation.
