What data is shared with SNHU outside of the Matter and Space team?
Details on how your data is managed.
Here's exactly who sees what, based on the consent forms you were given.
Your supervisor and HR
Your supervisor and department leader are informed on two things: whether you enrolled in, and whether you completed the pilot. They don't receive your individual questionnaire responses, wellbeing results, wearable data, or any other detail about your participation, and none of it factors into performance reviews or any other employment decision. Records from the pilot are kept separate from your personnel file, and HR doesn't have access to them for employment purposes. Choosing to participate, not participate, or withdraw at any point has no effect on your job.
If you opt in to receive a wearable device
Opting into a device isn't required to participate in the pilot. If you do opt in, SNHU Payroll receives your name, shipping address, email, phone number, and device opt-in status — only what's needed to process the taxable value of the device correctly. Your shipping details are also shared with DGWBranded, the vendor that ships the device.
The MAS research and product team
Members of the Matter and Space research and product team review de-identified responses and platform interactions to understand trends, spot usability issues, and improve the experience. Your identifiable health and wellness data is not shared with SNHU leadership or any outside party. Anything reported outside the research team is de-identified and aggregated. This isn't a HIPAA-covered healthcare service, but your data is still handled under strict confidentiality rules by people who need it to run the study.
Rare legal exceptions
Matter and Space is a learning tool, not an emergency, crisis-response, or reporting service. Conversations are not monitored in real time. If you need immediate help, call 911, go to the nearest emergency room, or call or text 988. SNHU employees can also contact the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) 24/7 at 800-647-9151 (dial #1).
Messages suggesting a risk of harm to yourself or others automatically receive these resources in-app. A small group of designated reviewers generally reviews flagged messages during normal business operations. They see only the flagged message and a few surrounding messages, without your name or profile, and pass along only concerns that appear credible.
Conversations are de-identified. If a reviewed message reasonably suggests a serious or imminent risk of harm, SNHU HR may be notified to determine next steps. In exceptional circumstances, HR may authorize limited re-identification — name and email only — to contact the person or involve emergency services. SNHU HR, not MAS reviewers, makes these decisions, and any such action is documented.
